Ah, iOS 7...

Where to begin? It has been highly anticipated since it was announced in June this year, but now that it has finally arrived, I am kind of disappointed by iOS 7. That's right, I said it. What's up with you, Apple? I mean, I'm not expecting the first iteration of a "completely redesigned" OS to be 100 percent bug-free, but it looks a bit slapped-together, to be honest. The worst part, though is that Apple can and has done better before, so why is this update so...average?

I'm not going to try and 'analyze' the reason for that, or even try to give a review. I will however be updating with little annoyances as and when I find/remember them. Here goes:

  • In app-switcher mode, why can we not swipe down to close a program as well? I think this feature would be best implemented in the style of Google Chrome's tab-switcher mode in their mobile interface.
  • Why is the keyboard light-themed in some apps, and dark-themed in other apps? Consistency is the least we could ask for from a company who allegedly pays so much attention to detail.
  • Speaking of the light- and dark-themes, we should really be able to switch the overall theme, seeing as those of use with black iPhones have them looking ridiculous.
  • This one really gets me: Why in the fuck does the Notes app still have a paper texture background? I mean you even got rid of the lines, but you left the faux paper crap on?
  • The GameCenter icon. How does that even fit in with the theme of going flat and minimal? Multicoloured bubbles totally evoke the images of Temple Run and Angry Birds in my mind.
UPDATE(S) BELOW
  • So you know how when you close the last tab in the mobile version of Safari, a new tab pops up in place of it? Why can't that behaviour be translated to the app-switcher? When you have closed the last program, it just stays there, waiting for you to choose the home screen, whereas it should just automatically switch to that, because there's nothing else open. Duh.
