Sedimentary rock...not the inorganic mineral matter that forms in layers over millennia; the music that is gradually added to my Spotify playlist in bursts.
I noticed I only listen to about the most recent 15 songs in my playlist for weeks, if not months, at a time, until I finally go on a music-adding spree and add another 15 or so songs to the playlist.
I can now dig through the layers and find some interesting fossils. I scroll past the phase when I added a bunch of Arcade Fire songs after meeting a fan who went on to become a great friend. Or when I listened to 'Daydream In Blue' and became immediately obsessed with it and made my guitar teacher teach it to me. Or when I watched A Tribe Called Quest perform on SNL the same night I saw one of my best friends for the last time.
Sedimentary Rock.
Great pun, terrible blog post. Sorry.
